White Chocolate Covered Oreo Cookie Pops

by Barbara Wilson

Oreo Cookie Pops Bouquet

These are a similar idea to oreo cake pops or oreo truffles however these chocolate dipped cookie popsicles are a little easier to make and a bit more forgiving in my opinion! I’ve seen these on Pinterest a time or two and finally decided to make them for my kids birthday party and what a hit, these delightful treats turned out great!

Ingredients

  • Oreo Cookies ( I bought the double stuffed family pack )
  • White Chocolate Candy Melts or Candy Bark
  • Sprinkles ( you will need a lot, buy a few containers or a mega size!)

Supplies

  • Popsicle sticks
  • parchment paper ( I was out so I used tin foil and that worked just fine)
  • Glass Bowls

1.) Melt chocolate in a glass bowl in microwave as directed on package or use a double boiler if so inclined. Set this aside while you move onto step 2.

2.) Separate Oreo cookies carefully, I put mine a plateful at a time in the microwave for 15 seconds to soften them and this made it a lot easier. Some will still break, it’s ok! Snack on them to make you feel better or save them for ice cream topping.

3.) Using the Popsicle sticks make an indentation into the Oreo creme, then dip popsicle stick into the melted chocolate and put a bit on the cookie to cement the cookie pieces back together with the popsicle stick in the middle.

4.) Put the finished cookies aside. To make sure mine were really hard before I moved onto dipping I put them in the fridge/freezer for 5-10 minutes.

Let cookies harden before dipping. Put in the fridge or freezer for a minute to set quicker.

5.) Dip the cookies into the melted chocolate, use a spoon to cover the cookie and make sure all nooks are covered. TIP: I found that if the chocolate was too hot it was very runny and did not work well in the next step. Better to wait until it cools a bit and is more the consistency of soft spreadable frosting.

6.) Dip cookies into sprinkles and then move to parchment paper lined surface (or foil if you’re out like I was) set aside to harden up or put in the fridge for quicker gradification

Set chocolate dipped cookies aside to set up and harden. Pop in the fridge or freezer if your impatient like me :) TIPS: I went through a lot of sprinkles in this step. I would make sure you have plenty on hand! You could also use nuts, crushed cookie bits from the broken ones in step 2, coconut flakes, etc. You get the idea!

7.) wrap cookies in cellophane bags or plastic wrap and tie with a ribbon. You could even add a printable favor tag but I chose to skip that step in the name of saving time. These would be so cute with a gift tag that said something along the lines of “Thank you for coming to the party” Display on a platter, in a basket, in a bucket or a vase. I found a basket, floral foam, and paper confetti at my local dollar store (3 bucks Yeah!) that worked out darling to display my sweet treats. Getting the kids to keep their hands off until the party was another story 🙂

Wrap with cellophane baggies or plastic wrap and tie with ribbon or string. I found the perfect sized baggies made for cake pops at my local Walmart but plastic wrap (or colored plastic wrap) would work well.

Dollar store items made a fun way to display my cookie pops. I used a basket, floral foam and decorative shred/confetti to make a "bouquet" (Only $3 for these supplies!!!)
